Panchito’s Gifts and Sundries at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a store named after Panchito, the Mexican parrot in the Three Caballeros. Scenes from the Three Caballeros are painted on the walls and figures from the movie are located in the shop. The store sells mainly Indian and Mestizo hand crafted goods along with shirts and other gifts. You will also find anything you many need for your stay. The store large at over 6,000 square feet.

Hi! My name is Copper and I got to visit Best Friends Pet Resort at Disney World while my owners were at the resorts. This was like a resort for me and could be for your best friend, too! We got to play outside in the water, on playgrounds, and take great walks — you can even get me a flat screen TV to watch! They treated me like any other Disney guest while I was at the Best Friends kennel. It was great! Watch the video to see some of the areas they let me play and the check-in process, which was super easy.

Disney World Dining at Narcoossees

One of our favorite Disney World dining at the Walt Disney World Resort is Narcoossee’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This popular restaurant sits right on the Seven Seas Lagoon with a spectacular view of Magic Kingdom. Narcoossee’s, named after a city in Florida features some famous entree items including crab crusted flounder, grilled salmon, steamed whole lobster, grilled ahi tuna, and filet mignon. The desserts are also quite popular at this resort including the Year of a Million Dreams dessert called Almond-Crusted Cheesecake.

This Disney World dining location does have a dress code that includes business casual. It is a great choice for adults and couples celebrating a special occasion. However, children also enjoy this restaurant with the lake and Magic Kingdom view. You can even plan a later dinner and watch the Wishes Fireworks over Cinderella’s Castle. It is a more expensive restaurant called a Disney Signature Table Service Restaurant. If you are on the Disney World Dining Plan, you can use (2) of your sit down meals to enjoy this restaurant. If you are on the Premium or Platinum Package, this restaurant is included in your package. It is a great choice for an evening away at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney World Rides Dumbo

Dumbo the Flying Elephant is a Disney World ride located in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom. Based on the character from the 1941 animated feature, the sixteen ride vehicles are each shaped like Dumbo and are mounted on articulated armatures connected to a rotating hub. The passengers ride in the “Dumbos” and can maneuver them up and down with a joystick which operates a hydraulic ram.

Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland is currently undergoing a large expansion and renovation. “The New Fantasyland will be constructed in phases with most new experiences open by 2013.” Mickey’s Toontown Fair closed permanently in February of 2011 in order to make way for the expansion. Some elements of Mickey’s Toontown Fair will be demolished and others will be re-themed to a new Storybook Circus area. An expanded Dumbo, Disney World ride will be built with an interactive queue. The Barnstormer at Goofy’s Wiseacre Farm will be re-themed, “featuring Goofy as The Great Goofini.”

New Disney Mugs

Disney has begun to implement an RFID system with their Disney mugs to keep guests from re-using them past their vacation dates. The Disney mug chip will shut off the drink dispenser after 2 weeks.

One of the greatest debates among those looking for Disney deals revolves around refillable mugs at the Walt Disney World Resorts. Disney sells these mugs with the stipulation that you can only use them for the length of your stay. However, many people purchase them once and then bring them back year after year to continue to fill them for free. Disney has tried changing the mug graphics more frequently but visitors continue to use the old mugs.

No matter where visitors stand on the refillable mug debate, Disney is taking a definite stand by employing the use of RFID to limit refills. According to DIS Unplugged, Disney is testing new technology at its All Start Sports Resort. Drink dispensers will only dispense drinks into cups that have the appropriate RFID chips embedded. Single use cups will be timed for meal time and the refillable mugs will be timed for the length of stay at the resort of the purchaser. The technology is provided by ValidFill.

Over the last several years, Disney has been ramping up the use of RFID both in the parks and on their cruise ships. The new Disney Dream ship uses RFID in the room keys to allow visitors to tap a box on their doors to open them. They can also tap their keys when they have their pictures taken by cruise photographers to have them added to their room accounts. At Disneyland, RFID chips are being sewn into Cast Member costumes to allow for quicker changes and inventorying. Rumors continue to circulate about RFID being used in the coming years in the Disney World parks to better customize the visitor experience at attractions and rides.

Whether Disney is using RFID to cut costs, increase behind-the-scenes efficiency, or provide vacationers with a better trip, it apparent that Disney is getting both creative and aggressive with the RFID technology.
